At my heaviest, I felt like I was constantly fighting food. I’d tried every diet under the sun—calorie counting, low-carb, fasting—and yet, nothing stuck. I was miserable, constantly feeling guilty for eating “bad” foods, and worst of all, I wasn’t seeing lasting results.
Then came the wake-up call. A work colleague mistook me for being pregnant and asked when I was due. It was mortifying, but in hindsight, it was the moment that changed everything.
Shortly after, I went on a bucket-list trip to Italy—and what I saw there flipped everything I thought I knew about weight loss upside down. Italians weren’t obsessing over calories. They weren’t avoiding pasta or skipping dessert. And yet, they looked healthy, happy, and full of energy.
